Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.

All three of Flora 's daggers return to her; the two still lodged in the panther's body slice it anew on their way out, and luckily the one which had fallen into the sand doesn't hit anyone on its way back. Jack, perhaps still overloaded by everything going on around him (maybe he's feeling real feelings? maybe his luck is just that bad? We'll never know. (but it's definitely his luck)), once again does more damage to himself (and therefore Remi), than the panther.
This time as Noah lunges for the panther he connects, his teeth sinking into the purple-black fur. Before he can get a grapple on the creature it disappears before popping up just a foot or so away with a loud snarl, aiding it in avoiding Sah 's blast of air magic as well.
Snapping its teeth the panther lunges at Noah, once again drawing on the strange strength it seemed to possess before unleashing a violet blast in his direction. Now it's Noah's turn to dodge, slithering smoothly out of the creature's way.

Void Sea Panther (rare/void) | Corrupted by the void, this favourite creature of Ludo's has been mutated into something horrifying and terrible. Trading out horns for tentacles, the Void Sea Panther is capable of instantaneous bursts of speed which it utilizes to either snap the necks of its prey using its teeth, or to bind them in its tentacles where the aura of the void can render them unable to fight back.
Why wasn't this thing dying? Maybe Flora had been lulled into a false sense of power by just how relatively easy her last few combat encounters had gone, but gods this was starting to feel unwinnable. The lingering effects of the void might have had something to do with that, and no doubt Jack would blame the chaotic fireworks of Flora's thoughts later for having distracted him so much, but the queen couldn't shake the feeling that something about all of this was going horribly wrong.
"I can't." Flora whispers, her voice tight. "I'm sorry." Unable to hear Noah's answer, the queen gives her head a little shake feeling as though her fragility was yet another hindrance in this entire ordeal.
Rising shakily to her feet, Flora stays behind Remi just in case the panther had any tricks up its sleeves that her dad's magic couldn't protect her from. Peeking out from behind him, the Doubletake throws one of her daggers back at the creature.

Listen, as far as Jack is concerned, shit is happening and he's not done a damn thing wrong. In fact, with the slew of thoughts, pain, panic and adrenaline, the Bastion's suspicion is right at the bottom of the list. (So far, in fact, that the captain doesn't even register it). No, instead he's watching with keen blue eyes as the panther once again slips in and out of sight, and this time Jack is already running for it as it reappears.
Gritting his teeth and doing his best to block out anything that might be, oh, I don't know, distracting (come on, dice, don't do this again), he sends a lash of air magic right at the creature in a cutting arc, sand slicing up as a result. And it's handily in the direction of the panther, Remi, just in case you were watching.

Okay, he thinks to Noah, before immediately pressing a kiss against Flora 's forehead. Were it up to him, he'd have wrapped his wings around her and left the rest of them to it. Yes, he was meant to be a protector for them all, but Remi had never been one to let his family suffer for the greater good. For the time being, though, with Flora pressed behind him, it'd likely do more harm than good to sweep her away now.
"Just get in front of them, then!" Remi yells, his voice carrying out across the sands if for no other reason than to hopefully encourage Jack and Sah to back the fuck away (not that they could because of timelines, but the thought's there). Though Noah's roar was invisible, Remi had seen it in action before and knew roughly what shape it took. With a little positioning from the Forsaken he should be able to pull it off, but if not, I can take the hit.
Yes, it would hurt, but that sort of thing was precisely why he was here instead of Ronin.
Remi offers some advice and keeps his magic active.

He was able to bite the panther, but not subdue it. He hissed with rage, but it was only a second before Remi’s words were in his mind. He shifted instantly, slithering and shrinking enough that he dodged the void attack. Thank Vi, because he knew how that shit felt and did not want it again.
Remi yelled and Noah was already running. Doing precisely that, Noah moved to position himself between his allies and the panther, keeping his back to them. ”STAY BEHIND ME!” Noah barks out over the sounds of their battle, his voice louder than it had been in ages. Then he struck — hard. Invisible energy burst from him towards the creature.
Noah shifts, gets between his allies and the panther, and uses Atomic Roar.
Magic: ABILITY: Atomic Roar | By way of manipulating atoms, Noah creates an invisible blast of energy that damages those within a 60ft cone. Those effected have to beat a STR save or be pushed back 10ft.

Flora is clearly terrified, and it makes her seem so young that it breaks Sah's heart. But with all the yelling, he quickly picks up on what is happening and jumps back (damn round order). Sah can only hope that he isn't in range of Noah's attack. It's a relief that the Demi-god is taking precautions with the ability now and trying to minimize collateral.
With his head clearing somewhat, it dawns on Sah that Remi is using his damage-soak ability, and although he greatly appreciates it, part of him feels guilty for causing the Demi-god harm. He'll have to thank him later. With Noah's attack activating, it's unclear if the panther will stay in range, but the Wild Thunder still sends a wave of air magic at it in the hopes of causing some damage.

Flora's dagger goes wide, and Jack 's very obvious WOOOOOOOOOOSH of air magic also misses. However as Noah runs to stand before his allies and unleashes his roar, while the beast isn't shoved backward, it does hiss in pain. Close behind, unfortunately, the beast is able to dodge out of Sah 's attack, before setting its sights once more on Noah.
Lunging forward it sinks its teeth into the Forsaken, but where there should be pain there is nothing but strange pressure as the damage is displaced to the man somewhere behind him.

As her dagger flies somewhere into the sand, the Doubletake curses under her breath, reaching out to grab the back of her dad's shirt. "You have to do something!" She hisses as if soaking the damage for the entire party wasn't enough. The creature moved faster than anything she'd ever seen, and gods if they'd only finished their stupid quest sooner.
With little else in her arsenal, Flora reaches for another dagger and lets it fly. It takes her a moment to aim around Noah and Sah, but she waits for an opening before launching the blade.

Frustration is writ plain in the captain's features as he's quite keenly aware, this time, of the panther's ability to dodge around an attack that felt was as concentrated and as skilled as he could make it. With a growl of a curse under his breath, he skitters across the sand and out of the way of Noah as he... roars? into the air. Fuck it - it works, and that's more he can say for the rest of them.
As the creature goes for the Forsaken again, Jack is already getting back into position, the air whipping around him as he tries, once again, to target it with a jet of his magic. Able to hear very little - neither thought nor voice now, such is his concentration - over the sound of the wind, he blasts the air towards the panther.

"I can't risk your safety." Remi whispers in response, though in the back of his mind he's already weighing his options. If he plucked Flora off of the ground, and flew her into the sky where the panther couldn't get to it, could he drop his magic long enough to summon Ronin back? Sure, he was as handicapped as Noah likely was, but Ronin was fast. Sure the panther was even faster, but...if he handed Ronin his dagger?
"Fuck." What if he was wrong? Gods, don't let him be wrong.
"EVERYONE GET BACK." The Bastion roars, lunging forward. Should Noah or Sah remain in his way, they'll feel Remi's strong arms grabbing them and hauling them back. "You're going to be vulnerable for a minute, but it'll be worth it."
Gods let it be worth it.
Feeling for the heartbeat on his finger, Remi tugged at the strand of magic that connected his husband to him before throwing himself at the panther. His intention was not to hurt it, but to keep it grappled long enough for Ronin to arrive so that he could throw his shield back over everyone.
Remi drops his magic and uses RESCUE to bring Ronin into the battle, before running to tackle the panter in order to soak damage that way.
Magic: Rescue | Remi can bring a fellow Old God demigod to his side in a time of crisis for three concurrent posts. One use per thread. If the summoned demigod also has mastered this ability, they can remain until the end of the thread.

And when Remi doesn't return - even after what's a considerably short period of time - he starts to prepare; only if something was causing considerable trouble would his husband not be back and with their daughter in tow.
So when that strange, silvery strand of magic grows tight in the pit of his stomach, he submits to it with draconic wings spread and something small and golden clutched in his fists.
"I'm here."
Hitting the sand as if it's a starting block for a race, the Knight needs only a second to pinpoint the location of the Void Sea Panther, and launches himself right at it. Whether he's targeted or hit is irrelevant; he aim's directly for the creature's maw with his closed fist, trying to ram that tiny golden fragment deep into its throat.
Ronin has had enough, and arrives to try and force the Beetle Husk in his possession down the Void Sea Panther's throat!

Beetle Husk | A gold-encrusted dried beetle. When eaten, can instantly kill any creature that is not immortal, a god, or an upper-level KQ foe (ask an admin for clarification). Can knock an immortal character unconscious for 3 months, can take off 50% of an upper-level foes HP. Only works if the bug itself is eaten. Poison cannot be made from the bug, nor can it be used to coat an arrow/knife/etc.

He was able to get between the creature and Jack, and Sah moved too. Thank Vi. He unleashed hell, though it was not without retribution. The sea panther, as void touched and formed as it was, hissed with pain that made a burst of satisfaction ignite within the Forsaken’s chest.
But the creature was fast. Its teeth sunk into him and Noah took all of the vigor and steadfastness within himself to keep his mind clear. He heard Flora’s panicked voice yelling at Remi, pleading with him, but she didn’t understand — he was doing what he needed to do. At least, Noah thought so. But Remi moved and commanded. And then he was grappling, and Ronin was there.
And Noah hoped that the hit would have the panther dropping him. But if it didn’t, he could still attack. Summoning what he could without hurting anyone he saw his spirit stag charge towards the panther’s side.
If Noah is able to get out of the panther’s jaws he will move, and he uses Spirit Stag.
Magic: Spirit Stag | Can summon the spirit of a mighty stag; an echo of Noah's former shift. This will last for 1 post per thread and appears to be made of pure sunlight. Noah can direct the stag to charge at a target, dealing fire damage and causing disadvantage on their next roll.

The panther has Noah and Remi and Ronin are up to something. The flurry of motion is chaotic, and the only thing that Sah can do is try to contribute where he can. With how many Demi-gods are in the beast's face, it'll hopefully inhibit its movement. Maybe enough that the Wild Thunder, can actually land another hit. The last blast that did seem to royally piss off the beast, so he'll have to keep his guard up in case the cat goes after him next.
With his vague plan in mind, Sah sprints so that he's hopefully just out of the way of what the others are doing. Turning on his heel, Sah then sends another blast of air magic at the panther.

Flora 's second dagger misses, Jack misses, and then things get interesting. As Remi runs to grab the panther as if it was some naughty companion caught eating something it shouldn't, Ronin appears back in the fray.
Now looking like two dads trying to wrestle the family cat, as Ronin shoves the beetle down the Void Sea Panther's throat, something unexpected happens.
Or, maybe it doesn't depending on what you've all come to expect from void monsters.
Fire blooms from Noah as air rushes from Sah, but none of it matters: the beast explodes as the beetle reaches its belly. Now, it's unclear about what happens next which part is worse: is it the horrific purple-black ichor that is flung at the group, covering them with burning goo? Or is it the fact that from the beast's belly comes a partially digested Zefira? Either way, you're all sure to feel both given that Remi's magical shield is no longer active.
Congratulations! You've killed the Void Sea Panther and survived the KQ! You may all use this for levelling.

Void Sea Panther Claws| The claws of a void sea panther which can be crafted into a weapon by a god. The teeth will always cause an injury to the person wielding it on a failed attack.
Void Sea Panther Pelt | The pelt of a void sea panther which can be created into armor by a god. The pelt provides mastered-level protection against attacks, but makes the wearer attack whoever is closest to them while wearing it.
