Character of the Season
Once known as the Butcher of Whitebrim, he's now The Butcher of Dygra, stepping forward as the first created demigod of the Ancients. There is no question that Astaroth casts an intimidating silhouette. Tall, domineering and dangerous, if looks could kill you'd be dead already, but to get up close and personal with the Grounds' resident cannibal tells a much different story. Dripping with charm and clad in only the finest attire, Asta is a gentleman monster, as polite as they come and committed to his role as security for the Dusklight and those who have earned his loyalty. Be careful of that smile, though - those teeth are sharp.
Congratulations, Asta!

last couple of months kinda been a disaster
With Sunjata off to work on his own last bit of touches needed for the regional quest, or whatever else King’s End needed (Thorn doesn’t know, he just works at the House of Midnight and is trying to help out where he can), it leaves him in charge to meet up with Alys in the space where the river is going to be.
So he’s sent out word to her, asking her to meet him here today, while the sun begins to lift into the sky and burn off the clouds and fog of the previous night. It’s still chilly, so the courtesan is dressed up in layers, a sweater with a leather jacket over it, thick boots and pants as well to try and keep the warmth in. He doesn’t need much else to do this portion of the quest but the magic under his skin.
While he waits, he toes a rogue rock on the edge of the empty river bed, listening to the call of nearby birds in a tree far behind him, trying to soak in the slow creeping warmth of the pale sun.
Flowerbirth dawned in muted gold, rays of sun stretching over the horizon to herald the changing season. And yet, despite the reappearance of the sun, something felt different. Perhaps it was simply a slow awakening, and the chill would disperse as the days turned into weeks; or perhaps, given her recent vision, there was something more nefarious afoot. Either way, Alys was on edge. But she'd agreed to help with purifying the area for the river, and she was nothing if not a woman of her word. Upon receiving a missive from Thorn, she'd written back that she would be happy to help, and now she walked along the path to the river's location to meet the courtesan.
She didn't know the man well, but they'd met in passing before, and as she and Sascha approached the designated meeting point, the seer smiled in a friendly, inviting way. "Hello, Thorn," she said, eyes flicking towards the rock he toed along the edge of the empty riverbed before landing once more on the courtesan. "How are you? I hope I haven't kept you waiting long."

As the ursur cub approaches, she captures Thorn’s attention. Born from Halo’s snows, the creatures aren’t unfamiliar to him. If anything, they’re to be feared. But here in King’s End, he knew of Alys and he knew of her companion, and with her smaller size he’s all too happy to couch a little and shoot a vibrant grin at the cub with a cooed “hey youuu!” Looking up to see Alys next, Thorn’s grin is reflective on his face.
“Hey Alys, no ya didn’t keep me waitin’ long.” He hums, friendly and easy as can be. “I was just tryin’ to stay warm an’ figure out what’d be the fastest way t’purify it without us freezin’ to death.” A laugh leaves him, warm and inviting, clouding slightly in front of him as he shrugs his shoulders. “How’re you? An’ Tal?” He asks, seeing as it’s been a while since he’d seen his friend and hopes they’re all doing well.
While Alys didn't know Thorn well, she could recognize his delight through her magic even before seeing the vibrant grin that spread across his face as he greeted Sascha. The little ursur rumbled a greeting of her own, padding forward to shove her head against the courtesan's hand. The seer pressed her lips together to keep from laughing, instead allowing a small, affectionate smile towards her companion. Anyone who was this pleased to see Sascha was an immediate friend, regional ties notwithstanding.
"Good," she said easily, shoving her hands in her pockets to warm them. "Unfortunately, fire magic isn't among my abilities. I think we'll just have to be quick as we can - while still being thorough, of course." She laughed, her own breath clouding in the chilly air. "I'll go ahead and get to work with my healing magic. Hopefully it will be enough." And so she did, calling upon her magic and directing it towards the very land itself, hoping that that was what she was supposed to do. She had never wielded it in this way before.
"Oh, we're doing well," she said conversationally as she worked, brow furrowing as she concentrated simultaneously on conversation and the work at hand. "Recovering from the Family was... challenging, but I think we're through the worst of it. I've been getting the itch to travel again, lately - so we'll see where the season takes us next. And you? I hope you've been well?"

A flash of colour draws the eye upward to a nearby tree, where a Dream Bird perches among the branches. Its feathers shimmer softly, hues shifting with each small movement.
The bird tilts its head, releasing a gentle trill that seems to linger longer than sound should, echoing faintly in the mind rather than the air. It ruffles its feathers contentedly, clearly at ease.
For now, it remains where it is, watching the world below with bright curiosity, perfectly content to perch and sing.
Dream Bird
Areas Found: Hollowed Grounds, King's End, Stormbreak — Uncommon
The dream bird is a small bird with 6 pairs of wings and is coloured an array of bright blues, yellows, reds, pinks and purples. It has a red beak with sharp teeth and pure white eyes; truly a horror to behold. A dream bird typically builds its nest high up in a tree on the outskirts of a city where it can hide from the townsfolk but still mess with their dreams. If you can find a nest and leave out food for the bird living there, they might take a liking to you and give you nice dreams. Should you try and chase them away, you can expect nightmares.

As a man that grew up in Halo with all the terrible stories of ursurs, Thorn truly should be more afraid of Sascha than he is as he reacts. But Thorn also realizes companions are often similar to their bonded, and with the short stature she looks more like a cub – and honestly, if not friend then why friend shaped, seems to be Thorn’s general reaction to most companions that might be terrifying.
So Sascha is greeted with utmost excitement and warm, happy scritches, before he’s drawing up and wrapping his arms around him briefly – his seafoam gaze flitting to the Fateweaver with a soft smile. “Yeah, it ain’t mine either.” He says about the fire magic, huffing a laugh. Unfolding his arms shortly after so they can get started, he takes up his own little residence on the other side of Alys so they can inject their healing magic into the ground at a faster pace.
Following her lead, his hands aim toward the ground, a brief golden glow blooming against his hands, injecting the healing into the ground. And while they work, he listens to hear how Tal and her are doing, glancing up and over at her to shoot her a small smile of understanding, his gaze passing over the dreambird that chirps in the tree nearby. “Yeah, I’m sure.” That recovering from the Family had been difficult. “I’m good. Jus’ been workin’. Might go an’ help design some stuff for a friend in Hak Etme.” He shrugs slightly, injecting more healing into the earth.
