and the only solution was to stand and fight
With multitudes of work behind and in front of him, the Sword remained in his avid perseverance, head bowed at the altar of the shrine, as he lowered his armor to the floor. In between covenants and promises, hot springs had been replaced, nourished, and invigoratingly wonderful, along with newfound intentions and schemes towards Starfall, and the improvement of his capabilities, his incantations, and now, protective means and measures for impending lines in the sand. “Safrin,” he began, a grin tugging along his features. “The springs are wonderful,” because it was true, and there would be more to come from on those counts – eventually, when he had timeframes sorted and other things solidified.

His gaze fixated on the leviathan scaled armor once more – mind flickering back briefly to all the efforts: of the training, of submerging it amidst starlight, repairs, and snowball fights. “I have also completed my tasks.” And perhaps, this too, could be a means of preservation amidst their enemy’s hideous isle.

Deimos is turning in his quest received in burns like a blue star to upgrade his:

Type: Light | Style: Defensive | Level: Basic
Leviathan Scale Armour | Lightweight armour made from the scale of a slain leviathan. Blocks Physical damage. Can be used 1x per thread. Downgrades incoming water magic every round.

1. Complete a training thread where only physical attacks are used against his armour. – [SE][Training] a mess of thorns
2. Complete a thread submerging the armour in water with starlight reflected in it. you may contribute a verse
3. Complete a thread using his own magic to repair any damage to the armour sustained thus far (does not take up a crafting slot) – experiential docet
4. Complete a thread using his armour to protect via unconventional means. snow laughing matter (used it to protect himself and Erebos during a snowball fight)

every bait and switch was a work of art
She arrives on the heels of his words, the air stilling like breath caught in reverence. A shimmer begins in the corners of the shrine, light curling inward as though drawn by gravity itself until, with a pulse of radiance, Safrin appears. She steps from the brilliance as though it parts for her—and perhaps it does—the silken train of her gown whispering over the stone, stars stitched into its length flickering with every motion.

Her smile is knowing, warm as twilight and edged with something sharper beneath. "I’m pleased the springs meet your standards," she murmurs, voice soft but resonant, like the hush just before night truly falls.

As her gaze drifts from him to the altar, her brow lifts delicately. There is no reprimand—just the gentle hum of amusement curling under her breath. "No offering today?" she teases lightly, like a mother indulging a wayward son who’s forgotten flowers on her birthday. But there’s no malice in it—only fondness, and a flicker of expectation.

Her attention shifts to the armour, and all jest vanishes. The humour falls away like a discarded veil as she steps closer, eyes gleaming as they rake over the scaled surface. "Yes," she says softly. "You have."

One hand extends, graceful and sure, and from her palm pours a stream of starlight—liquid brilliance, slow and controlled. It sinks into the armour like water into parched earth, illuminating the seams and edges, filling the dents and deepening the shine. The scales take on a luminous sheen now, refracting faint motes of cosmic light with every shift.

Deimos' armour has been upgraded to:

Type: Light | Style: Defensive | Level: Upgraded
Leviathan Scale Armour | Lightweight armour made from the scale of a slain leviathan. Blocks Physical damage. Has a 3 post cooldown between uses. Downgrades incoming water magic every round.
you're the one prize i'd cheat to win

His head tilted on potentially two teases – uncertain if he’d erred somehow, but then the slight reprimand came, and he realized his head had been quite elsewhere, preoccupied with everything else, and Safrin shouldn’t have been the one suddenly amiss in all his machinations. “That can be rearranged,” he offered, and on an extension and olive branch of his accord, contorted and created an image of her likeness in bits and pieces of water droplets, cascading and rippling around – not unlike a shower, without the liquid going anywhere, in constant rivulets and stasis.

Thereafter though, as he concentrated on the incantations, his focus drew upon the armor itself, as she poured her starlight into its scales. A brighter gleam, an illuminated exaltation, and the seamless improvements to its existence. Something greater and grander for the future – especially Starfall. “Thank you again,” he rumbled softly. And his offering would last for as long as he was able – dissipating gradually as he traced his way back into the Citadel’s reaches, vying once more for plots and machinations and steadfast arrangements.
