Character Information
AppearanceOld and ugly scars run across her palms and the inside of her hands. She can be quite self-conscious of these wounds, and she often hides them with gloves or bandages to avoid the need to explain them. When it comes to her overall presentation, Rillian carries herself with pride and dignity befitting her past profession as a priestess. She prefers simple dress and next to no ornamentation. Practicality more than fashion influences her choice of attire. PersonalityHer curiosity and interest in the deities of Caido is tempered by her hesitation to trust gods of any sort, having known more cruelty than kindness at the hands of the Sun God's followers among her own people. While she wishes to learn more about these new powers of the world she has come to, she is not certain whether she wishes to hand her allegiance to any one in particular. It is fortunate, perhaps, that her status as Abandoned makes her an undesirable target among the powers of Caido. What drives Rillian most powerfully is her wish to help people. She wants to learn more of this world and its magic, to surround herself with people who see the gift that such knowledge can be to those who are oppressed or alone. However, this thirst for likeminded individuals may prove as much a hinderance as a help to Rillian, as she must balance her own motivations against those who would use the same knowledge she seeks for their own gain. HistoryYears later, Rillian experienced an intense vision--a light in the night sky that pointed north, calling her far from the temple of Rahn'ahla and the city walls of Eng'ahli. She risked everything--her position of relative safety and comfort, her calling as a priestess, and her very life--to leave Eng'ahli and escape to the north. Those who helped her, fellow slaves inspired by her vision of light and purpose, one-by-one perished along the harsh journey through forest and over mountains, always fleeing the pursuit of the slave-catchers of Eng'ahli. Only Rillian and her guide, a hunter-slave known as Talla, made it to the lake where stars shone across a glass-like surface and reflected the lights in her dream. Talla chose to go her own way, disillusioned when they found nothing but water where Rillian's dream had promised power and freedom. Left on her own, lost and feeling as if her dreams had deceived her, Rillian was unsure what to do next. Finally, she stepped into the water of the lake, and she found herself portaled out of her very world--and into the world of Caido, that very portal being the light that her dreams had foretold. Raised among those forced into service to a harsh god, Rillian never felt free to truly be her own person. She lived her life always pleasing others, doing what she was told and accepting the truth that was given to her. Now that she has been portaled into this strange and new realm, Rillian must finally ask herself who she wants to be and what she wants to do with her life. For the first time, she does not need to use her long-held gift of healing magic to ease others' pain. No one can tell her what gods to believe in. Rillian must make her own decisions, and the thought frankly terrifies her. OtherA rough estimate of this character's damage potential is as follows:
