Aithne's enthusiasm has Remi grinning before he can quite help it. There is something in the bright, pleased shape of it that reminds him of Flora, not precisely in expression or manner, but in the familiar way delight can turn sharp-edged confidence briefly into something younger and easier. It has his shoulders loosening, some of the quiet watchfulness in him settling beneath the surface again as he nods.
At her question, though, Remi tilts his head slightly, as if the answer ought to be simple and yet rarely is. "Well," he says, glancing toward Ronin again with a smile that arrives before the rest of his words do, "my husband is certainly a soldier." There is no small amount of pride in the admission, though it sits softly on him rather than loudly. "I mostly go along to make sure that no one gets hurt." His thumb brushes absently along the side of his mug, and after a moment, he gives a small shrug of his broad shoulders. "Or, perhaps more honestly, to make sure as few people get hurt as possible."
