It isn’t merely the public display of affection; it's what the scene declares without either of them needing to say it: Jack is back, he is well enough to take whatever space he pleases, and his absence has done nothing to lighten the weight of his name in Torchline. If anything, occupying one of the city’s most valuable resources as though it were his private bath makes the point beautifully.
