Calan
"Only sometimes," Calan says with a shrug. "Tentacle-dad can bring people back from the dead, but he’s always saying stuff about how he has to be responsible about it and not abuse it." His eyes roll with the full weight of a child who has heard entirely too many reasonable explanations from grown-ups. What any of that has to do with soup, stories, and getting a ghost witch grandmother to babysit more often, Calan doesn’t know, but parents are famously bad at having fun unless you trick them into it carefully.
The mention of magic pulls him right back to Erebos, eyebrows lifting with immediate interest. "Cool! What can you do?" The question comes with the hungry brightness of someone collecting useful information, though Calan is also genuinely impressed by the idea that Erebos might be able to help Orsino with the excavation. He crouches nearer to the hole, careful not to collapse the sides, and sticks the tip of his tongue out while considering the very important matter of what should happen once the crab is successfully captured.
"Well, first off, probably we’ll interrogate it," he decides, nodding as though this is the obvious next step. "One of us can be the good cop and offer it sandwiches, and the other can threaten to drown it in the sea." This threat does not seem especially strong when applied to a crab, but Calan is already moving past that detail because intimidation is mostly about confidence anyway. "When we ask it about where its headquarters are, if it refuses to talk, that means it definitely has one."
At the mention of Erebos’s father’s shifts, Calan grins broadly. "Our dads can be big things too!" His expression brightens further at the idea of their house being fun, and he points back toward the coast with the stick still clutched in his sandy hand. "You should come over! Or maybe we can come to you. We live on a boat, so it moves around."
