Carlo
"She normally comes around someone's birthday, though. Or around when our dads got married, so they can go out on dates while we stay home." They haven't been around for nearly long enough to have perfected the time between their nonna's visits, alas, but it's long enough that Calan's description of only sometimes is more than accurate.
Now that they are all hunkered by the sand dune and Orsino is working diligently in the crab search, Carlo can be equally as awed by the fact that Erebos has magic, the boy's eyebrows climbing right into his dark curls. "That's awesome," he gushes. "We can only channel spirits, and only like once or twice a season. We did get to kick a guy in the shins because of it last time though." Which had been great, but it doesn't sound as cool as having real arcane power.
"Right, the sandwiches!" Snapping his fingers, Carlo turns immediately to start sculpting a little plate with littler triangles on them out of sand. (Get it?) "I hope it does have headquarters. That would be cool." And henchmen. He's heard fun things about henchmen, like how they don't usually have to talk or think much and get to fall over dramatically when heroes brush by them.
Nodding his agreement about both dads and boats, the boy does feel it necessary to offer a caveat. "It's kind of cramped in there right now," he says apologetically, "but deer-dad has a quest to change that!"
