Rae's Fingers are as slimy and slippery as they've ever been, Flowerbirth's chill hanging thick in the air and creeping its way into Finch's bones. The incessant dripping water somewhere off in the distance sends a shiver down the thief's spine, the hairs on the back of his neck standing to attention as his feet pad silently on the slick rock floor. It doesn't matter how much time he spends down here running his fingers over the Cant on the walls, exploring the labyrinths of slime in pursuit of locked and buried treasure -- he still hates this place.
Slipping through the craggy entrance, he leads the twins into the dark delves of the tunnels, his eyes adjusting quickly to the damp darkness. "If you run your fingers against the wall you'll start feeling symbols soon," He suggests, keeping his tone light and non-instructional. "What they feel like matters more than what they look like."
Above them, the crack holding the bleak lightness of the day slowly disappears as Finch descends farther and farther into damp, cold darkness. "I've never run into any sea monsters here, but I may be looking in the wrong spots," He shrugs, running his fingers lightly along the wall with practiced ease, catching the shape of familiar symbols under his fingertips.
"Now, I dunno where Boaty ended up, but," with a flourish, he whips out Jack's hand-drawn Fingers map and waves it dramatically in the air like a flag. "I do have a treasure map." The treasure would be the incredible ability to not get his fingers chopped off by Jack, the cache down the way empty, but the twins didn't have to know that.
