Character Information
AppearanceHis eyes are a slightly alarming shade of yellow, unnerving in their brightness. Slightly animal-like, they are gold, rimmed with black with a large, dark pupil. In the glow of the fire in a lovers embrace they could be likened to butterscotch; warm, melting, sweet. In anger, they're much closer to resembling those of a lion. Living in the frosty wasteland of Halo, he wears layers of furs to keep himself insulated from the cold, adding to his fierce appearance. He often carries weapons, mostly to ward off the problematic Ursur. PersonalityHe struggles to make lasting conversations due to this amicable nature; although he gets along well with most people, he finds it difficult to create deeper connections. Below the jokes and teasing, he is insecure and lonely. Outside of others company, he feels dull and separated from humanity. He relies heavily on the company of his Luxere to keep him going when he is isolated for long periods at time, and often finds it difficult to go back to interacting with others after time alone. He feels inadequate and useless, underneath all the mirth and social graces, and will at times fall into a slump where he deliberately stays away from others, despite the fact he requires human companionship to thrive. Whilst gruff in terms of outward appearance, it is clear to anyone who stops to chat with Rasmus that he is a soft, gentle soul. He allows people's opinions of him to color his own self worth, and is desperate to please. He is happy to lend a helping hand to anyone if they need, and puts his own needs far below other people's. This selflessness often gets him in trouble, as many people are happy to continuously take without giving anything back, leaving Rasmus with nothing. His genuinely sweet nature and low self-esteem means he is slow to anger when it comes to himself; accusations and cruelty thrown towards himself is likely to just be taken on board and processed. If those he holds in high esteem, however, or his animals, are threatened in anyway he is quick to defend them however necessary. Sometimes he acts in this way without thought, and regardless of his good intentions, this can backfire as those he protects sometimes do not want to be protected. His low self-esteem can also have him come across as hot-and-cold, which also doesn't help his ability to make lasting relationships. He is terrified of coming on too strong as needy, and therefore often overcompensates this with acting distanced, but will boomerang back 'in the moment' in a way that makes him seem eager, only to once again act 'cool' so not to scare anyone away. In summary, Rasmus is a kind, caring individual with good intentions, who suffers from low self-esteem and loneliness, which he chooses to mask with good humor and geniality. He struggles to make lasting connections due to this low self-esteem. He is friendly and amiable to everyone except those that harm those close to him or animals, but is too afraid of failure to make any moves in regards to relationships or friendships. HistoryHandsome and intelligent, Rasmus should have thrived in his education, but the large man has always suffered from the fear of failure. His parents, whilst well-meaning, did nothing to encourage Rasmus away from a similar life then they'd had, and so he never really thought of his real aspirations, of moving away from Halo and finding a different sort of life. His parents had worked in various jobs in their lives, and were content to do things that needed to be done; mending, cooking, building, animal work. Rasmus himself found himself drawn towards the sweet, kind, and skittish animals called Luxere. Kindred spirits, although no one would guess by looking at the hulking man. Because of this, and despite his need for social interaction, Rasmus decides to make a life for himself on the outskirts of Citadel, raising and carrying for a growing herd of Luxere. Their pelts and meat is important to the Citadel community, as well as their services as pack animals when tamed, and he makes a decent living from it; if a very challenging one. The Tundra is a wild, vicious part, and he spends much of his time feeding the sweet trusting Luxere and also protecting them from the array of vicious predators. His specialty is training the Luxere for pack duties, for explorers and travelers, as he is loath to send his trusting animals to the butchers. By 41, one would think that Rasmus has had something important in his life, something exciting, but the truth is, he's mostly drifted along. He's by no means a virgin, but has in fact never had a lasting relationship. He's too afraid of rejection to put himself out on a limb, and his lifestyle means he doesn't get a whole lot of opportunities to interact with others in a way where they might make the decision for him. The only real thing of note is, at a very latent age, Rasmus discovered a talent for healing. However small this talent is, and no matter how weak, it somehow made Rasmus feel just a little more special, a little outside of the box he had put himself in his whole life. He holds this gift, as he calls it, close to his chest; it seems to explain why the Gods, no matter how much he prayed to them, disregarded his begging. It comes in use when one of his Luxere are injured, but he hasn't yet had a chance to use it on a person. OtherA rough estimate of this character's damage potential is as follows:
