Appearance
With dark hair and a pale complexion, Nerissa is striking looking. Her face could be pretty, could be delicate, if it wasn't so often schooled in a look of detached smugness, the creatures and the world around her judged, and found lacking. Nerissa is small, if not necessarily slight, though parts of her seem slightly too long and sharp for comfort. Her fingers, most noticeably, their length only made more jarring by the long sharp nails she sports. Small tattoos decorate the area's around her joints, most commonly eyes and arrows, though there is a compass rose on her stomach, and an anchor between her shoulder blades. Her body flows smoothly into her lower half, pale skin darkening to a soft looking red mantle, tapering into eight delicate legs. It could poetically be described as a gown, though the softness hides jagged, toothy spikes.
Personality
Nerissa would describe herself as honest, where others might say bitchy. She is unwilling to put time or energy into things that won't be advantageous for her, and it's often clear immediately just how useful she believes a person will be. Those who don't mince words, who seem to understand how valuable her time is will occasionally see a better side of her, though even with the slightest bit of respect she is still cold, and abrasive. She is self serving to an end, though her definition of 'self' is capricious, and can shrink or grow on a whim. It is rare for another to be included in it, with a single exception in Olavi. The difference in her attitude towards him as compared to others is striking. She is doting, warm, always hanging off of him if the chance is available.
History
Nerissa was born in and grew up in the deepest reaches of the Mer empire, and learned from a young age there is no one she can depend on more than herself. From an early age, she practised manipulation, though she was no stranger to having to defend herself physically, her tricks and small stature making her a target to those she crossed. Getting into smuggling was a 'right place, right type' situation, though she's gripped the reins tightly now. Early into her establishing her empire, she crossed paths with Olavi, finding him at once irritating and intriguing. Professional respect eventually grew into something decidedly unprofessional, and to see the pair of them now, it's difficult to see those early, turbulent years.
