All high cheekbones and sharp, angular features, Danta is pretty rather than conventionally handsome, and with a slender build and long limbs to accompany these arguably feminine attributes, it's easy to write him off as soft or feeble. But his blue eyes are clear and cold and offer little to hide what's behind them, whether it be cruelty, lust or a thirst to have and to take.

If there is any style to his rich blond hair, it's entirely accidental; shoulder length at its longest point and entirely shaved along the right temple, it's often adorned with feathers, braids and other treasures he picks up along his travels. He's as fond of jewellery as he is abhorrent of unnecessary clothing, and he often goes bare-chested beneath the ruddy leather coat he's thrifted from Torchline.

Never choosing to glamour his status as an Ancient, even given the choice, Danta's horns are protrustions of crystalline diamond, catching rainbows in the right light and curving up and back along his head. (They are very similar to #2 in this image. )

One can never be certain which flavour of Dantalion they're going to get until meeting him. He might be impulsive and wild or devilishly flirtatious; he might be the loud, brash life of the party or sullen and uninterested in socialising. There's no method to the madness, either - a slave to base instinct and emotion, Danta flows wherever the feeling takes him, regardless of the consequences and heedless of others around him.

As an Ancient, these swings in mood can make him an unstable presence given the nature of bloodlust. He can be dangerous precisely because his violence is unexpected, oftentimes even to himself. Like a cat playing with its food or enjoying a belly scratch, he can turn on a dime. And while social convention has him attempting to keep his teeth out of other people, if he can get away with it, he'll always take the easiest (and often most satisfying) kill.

That isn't to say that there isn't a calculating mind beneath the devil-may-care surface, or that there aren't hidden desires, passions or even traumas buried there. It's just that no one has ever gotten close enough for long enough to find out.

History
Having been asleep for centuries, nestled against rivers of magma and beneath constellations of precious gems, Dantalion's past is not important. What you should be focusing on is his future - a future that is yet to be written, and about to become your problem.
