Perhaps the closest equivalent of Caido’s golden retriever energy, Zavien has been the light in an otherwise patch of darkness. Always putting others first, working hard at being a Dragoon and helping Stormbreak thrive in kindness, and always being optimistic, Zavien’s outlook is refreshing and wonderful even with drama and terrible things occurring around him. He always has something helpful to say and a willingness to lend a hand that makes it so fun to keep up with him and we can’t wait to see what else comes his way.
Congratulations, Zavien!

ISLA
Isla has sent word of the requirements for the Spire's new developments, but before anything can truly be done, first they might clear out what already exists. She's only been here a couple of times, and even then she's never spent any real amount of time around the obelisk. But even hollowed out and crumbling, it's a mighty sight to behold as it stretches overhead in the moonlight.
She has gathered some tools in a small hand wagon - shovels, pickaxes and the like - which creaks to a halt as she does, and she's taken the liberty of marking out where any excess obsidian ought to be stacked and gathered. Now it's just a waiting game, and with luck they'll be able to make the Spire look almost presentable.
This is the RQ requirement: A PQ of 4 characters removing debris from the Spire!
The Spire utilized as a weapon was something Mabel could fathom, could imagine, could accept. It might’ve been due to her own demolishing, unrepentant tendencies. It might’ve been because that damned thing should’ve been utilized for more than just portals and the unknown. How magnificent would it be, protecting and upholding their domain again and again and again? Laying waste? Unfurling devastation? A proud beacon to have and behold.
So there was no hesitation in the Overseer’s call for assistance, moving ahead in the moonlight fixtures, to where they’d be spread amongst its towering dominion. She arrived with little fanfare, daggers tucked away and under her tunic, resting on her belt, head lowered in respect to Isla, eyes instinctively going to the pickaxes, shovels, tools they’d need to continue carving it from the inside out. “I can help,” she mumbled – waiting for the next set of directions.

"I still think that thing looks like a hell of a dungeon," Cam said to no one in particular as they arrived at the Spire, almost-empty backpack hanging from their shoulder. They'd almost brought a canteen until they'd remembered that they didn't actually have to hydrate anymore, so instead the backpack just contained their sketchbook and a couple pencils. Just in case they had an opportunity to draw. The Spire certainly created a striking landscape, and ever since Cam had arrived at its base, they'd had this sneaking suspicion that it was full of treasure and traps and probably cursed. The few things they'd heard about the place just served to encourage that idea.
"Hey, Mabel." Cam put their backpack by the wagon of tools and turned to Isla. "Hi, I'm Cameron. I'm here to help -- where should we start?"

Nikolai had heard how the spire was being converted into a defensive system and had been eager to help. The idea of a canon was both exhilarating and daunting but it certainly sounded useful. And so, determined to do his part, the young Ascended found himself heading to the meet-up point to clear debris.
Spotting familiar faces, he greeted the others, "Hey, good to see you all again." Although he'd never spoken one-on-one with Isla, he remembered her from the recent meeting. Cam and Mabel were thoroughly familiar and Nikolai much preferred to see them absent of vampire gourd company.
Narrowed eyes turned to the Spire. It certainly was a mess. "Where do we even begin?"

They gather and Isla is there waiting for them, the Overseer smiling brightly at the assembled Ascended. "Thank you all for coming," she murmurs. "I hope we'll be able to make this place look a little more proud before the night is through." As for where to begin? Isla nods to the small markers she's stuck into the dirt around the Spire, and at the tools gathered in her hand wagon.
"There's a lot of obsidian to clear out, mainly. It can be very useful, though, so any larger pieces can be put in the wagon, and we'll cart it back away with us." Reaching into said wagon, Isla takes out a shovel so she might begin her own work. "If you need any help, feel free to just call out, okay?"
Round 1! Let's clear some obsidian! The following tasks are available:
- There's a marker at the very foot of the Spire that needs to be cleared with a pickaxe
- There's a marker further out filled with small, sharp shards of obsidian which needs to be cleared with a shovel
- There's a marker right next to the Spire entrance - only brute strength will do to move this debris.
She gave and granted her greetings towards the other familiar Ascended with a casual nod of her head; attention deviating solely to Isla, and then the Spire itself, as tasks and information was designated. Her eyes glanced at the markers, then the tools in place, tilting her skull as she listened to the modicums of obsidian, pondering over which would be most suitable. Mabel wasn’t known for her brute strength, so she opted for the pickaxe. Was it because she liked the looks of it, and how it could potentially be used as a weapon? Maybe.
Snagging the tool, she made her way, quietly, over to the foot of the Spire, and went to work, striving to clear away the proportions marked.

"I wonder where all this obsidian came from," Cam said. An irrelevant observation, but sometimes they just enjoyed the sound of their own voice. "Obsidian is, what's the word, igneous rock -- it comes from volcanoes. Wonder if there were volcanoes around here a long time ago, or if someone had to haul it in."
The possibility that the obsidian might have magical rather than natural origins hadn't really occurred to them.
Refocusing on the task at hand, they picked up a shovel. "I'll get that one over there."
They headed for the more distant marker, ready to dig up the little shards.
Cam will get the further-out marker that needs a shovel!

Nikolai bit his lip nervously as the easier markers were claimed before he had a chance. All that was left to move was the marker by the entrance. The very marker that looked deeply wedged into the ground and likely heavier then the young Ascended himself. With a resigned sigh Nikolai attempted his best effort.
Taking a shovel he attempted to clear some of the dirt around the edge of the marker, hoping to give himself some wiggle room. From there, he began to wedge the shovel underneath the marker as deep as he could get it. Once in place, the young Ascended made a complete fool of himself. Jumping onto the shovel and attempting to wedge it underneath the marker, he did his best to pry the piece of obsidian out of the ground.
Nikolai goes for the marker at the Spire entrance! (Someone help him pls, he's weak.)
