What do you get when two ruthless assassins raise their daughter travelling through the wildest reaches of Caido? Take one look at Theea and you'll get a pretty good idea. Cheerful and tenacious in equal measure, and curious beyond all else, she began her journey on a mission to find those her mother once called family. And find them she did, soon rubbing elbows with demigods, leaders and even ghosts from the past. Her determination is resolute, her thirst for knowledge unmatched. We can't wait to see where her next adventure takes her!
Congratulations, Theea!

Oh, of course the bridge was too narrow. Pouting and scowling at it directly, as if it had done her some great disservice, she began snagging at rocks, knowing full well she didn’t have the capability to either yeet the cart over the passing, or widen it. “Can either of you lift the cart?” Glancing between Jack and Aurelia respectfully, pondering over the states of magic and such. To be fair, the Honeybee might be able to brute strength the whole thing, but then someone was going to complain when it ended up down a ravine or some shit. There was always the wild magic option, but she hadn’t known it to assist in weight lifting – and a barrage of ducks probably wouldn’t help either.

Melita makes a suggestion and starts grabbing rocks from the cart.

Can Jack lift the cart? To that he responds to Melita with a snort and a shake of his head, releasing his hold on the shallow waters now that they've reached this too-small bridge. "Ain't too much further to go - we can prob'ly do this by hand," he mutters, following suit with the Honeybee and reaching into the (mostly empty now, to be fair) cart to grab one of the final sacks of stones. "Some thumbs would probably be useful now," he calls to Aurelia for good measure, hefting the sack on his shoulder and nodding to the bridge.
"Single file should get us over there without too many catastrophes." So saying, the captain waits for Melita to go first and reach the other side of the bridge, before following. Once there, he continues with the placement of the stones around the lighthouse island, assuming this to be the last leg of their journey.
Jack says no, don't be silly, and grabs one of the sacks of stones by hand. He recommends going single file across the bridge, and then continues to place stones.

It was quite evident to Aurelia that she couldn't pull the cart across the footbridge. And, in response to Melita's question, she answered with a snort and a shake of her own head - at the exact same time as Jack. To which she pointedly did not look his way.Â
Shedding the straps keeping it tied to her, she stepped away from the cart and shifted back. She made good use of her thumbs as she grabbed the last sack and carried it across the bridge once Melita and Jack were both safely on the other side. She hadn't been able to speak when she was shifted, especially to either of them (to her knowledge, at least), but even when she was back in human form she didn't feel tempted to say much of anything. Her silence was thoughtful, as she wondered how these stones were going to work exactly - but figuring she would find out soon enough.
Having watched how they placed the stones this whole time, Aurelia fell into step behind them, putting the stones down in places that seemed good enough.
Aurelia shifts back into human form to carry a sack across the bridge, then begins putting down stones as well.

"With threats? Or bribes, maybe? We could put out a reward for anyone with knowledge of an infected person, with a reward given if it turns out to be true?" Torchers were notorious for having more information than they seemed and even more famous for turning in friends and family for a bit of coin. Sighing, the queen lowers her head and nods. "Yeah, same. Especially because he's so...unlikely a candidate?" Vanilla-AF Everest Hart didn't seem like someone who got himself into the sort of trouble that would result in having been infected in the first place.
Grinning over her shoulder at him, Flora nods as she deposits more stones. "I'm so ready to be done these tasks, you have no idea." Nevermind that Seren had made this final go-round that much easier, if the queen never had to pick up another rock again, it would be too soon. "I don't think I have it in me today, but maybe this week we can grab a drink and talk about what we wanna do next?"
Round 8! Final one!
Team Leadership: whatever rocks you have left, might as well put them down here!
Team Ark: By hand it is! Once you've gotten your stones all the way around the island, you're done!

“Fiiiiiiine” came on a long-drawn sigh and a pout, with a flourish of her rolling eyes as she grabbed more stones. Why couldn’t they have a little relish, a little fun, a little chaos at the end? Just because it might have been a pain in the ass afterwards didn’t make it any less enjoyable (Melita logic).
Muttering to herself and wondering if she could have the power of levitation later on down the line simply because it seemed fuckin neat, she walked across the bridge and began placing stones upon the ground. Though tempted to be a shit again, she figured she should kinda sorta behave with the last leg of their sojourn.
As usual, Hadama didn't answer at once. He gave both of her ideas some thought before deciding: "Bribes. Threats are too difficult to control. But neither matters until we have a way to prove an infection. Preferably a visible and public way," he added, taking no pleasure in the heavy topic as he nodded once in agreement to the unlikeliness of Everest being the mostly likely case.
Not the first. Flora had that distinction, as far as he knew. And he was even gladder that Rae had cleansed her before she'd gone to see Safrin again.
"Indeed. We have done enough today," he agreed, shaking off the lingering gravity of their conversation while he placed a few more stones. "If you will bring the drinks, I will bring towels. And something that bubbles. If you would meet me at Frey's Breath?" A suggestion made for more than one reason, with Starfall and its supposed denizens so near at hand.
Hadama places rocks and suggests Frey's Breath for a working vacation location

Melita logic, as one might well be able to imagine, does not belong in Jack's schemes, much as he's often forced to deal with it by dint of her being part of the crew of The Ark. Nevertheless, he doesn't actively sass her about it this time at least, instead following after her with his sack of stones to take the opposite way around the lighthouse island - honestly, he's had quite enough company for one day, he thinks.
Where Aurelia and her thumbs go is entirely her prerogative, but Jack figures either way that he and the rest of their little party will eventually run into each other once they've made a full perimeter of Aumakua. Or, if they don't they don't. Jack will make sure that the rocks have been placed appropriately either way, if for no other reason than because he is not, under any circumstances, doing this shit again.
Jack goes the opposite way around the island to Melita and places his rocks!

As she made her way around the tower, she glanced up every now and then to make sure she wasn't covering the exact same ground as the other two members of her group. She placed the rocks into the glittering sands one at a time, not going too slowly. But she was also ensuring that each one had its own rightful place. A nook for a stone here, a cranny for another one there...
When she reached into the bag one last time and found that she had no stones left, she crossed her arms over her chest and looked across the small beach surrounding the lighthouse, observing their handiwork. Then she turned and gazed towards the Rainbow Road, and then even further off towards Kaiholo Port. However menial the task may have felt, she knew this was an important step towards protecting Torchline. That was enough for her to be willing to do this; to haul a cart strapped to her back, as a tiger, nearly the whole trek.
As she gazed out across the sea, she debated going for that swim now.

"Mmmmm." Pressing her lips together, once upon a time Flora would have laughed at the idea that she and Hadama would ever be weighing the pros and cons of threats versus bribes, and yet here they were. It was certainly the sort of thing that required more attention and consideration than likely either had at the moment, with their muscles burning despite the way their wagon was nearly empty of stones.
"Oooh, that sounds divine. Who knows, maybe we'll have a stroke of luck and come home with more than just soothed muscles."
With their wagon empty, the pair walked in relatively easy silence back toward the city
Team Ark might not be any more friendly than when they'd started, but no one died, right? Not even a single black eye. As Mel approaches from one side and Jack from the other, with Aurelia sprinkling her stones in where needed, eventually the entirety of the coastline was covered in little rainbow rocks.
WE DID IT. GO TEAM.
